Transport System
Reaching Kasheli
Although Kasheli sits well away from the nearest towns, it is reachable by road, sea and air.
By road
- From Ratnagiri : about 18 miles south. A creek about two miles wide breaks the direct route, so road travel goes around it.
- From Rajapur : the taluka headquarters lies 18 miles east, on a tarred road.
- Mumbai – Gangkhadi State Transport bus : leaves Bombay Central daily at 5:45 pm and reaches Kasheli around noon the next day — roughly twelve hours on the road.
- An ST bus from Kasheli Bandh via Agvekarwadi to Gangkhadi now runs through the entire village; the ₹4 lakh road project was nearing completion.
By sea
- Bhaucha Dhakka (Mumbai) to Musakaji boat : sails at 10 am, reaches Musakaji port between 10 and 11 pm the same day.
- Musakaji – Gangkhadi bus : reaches Kasheli by 6 am the following morning.
By air
A Vayudoot flight (when operating) reaches Ratnagiri in about 50 minutes; from there it is a further 2½ – 3 hours by road via Pavas — Poornagad — Gangkhadi.
Within the village
The ST bus runs through every wada along the main spine road. A roughly half-kilometre khar-land embankment was added by the state from Wayangod Vahal to Kasheli Bandh, simplifying internal access to the water sources.
